Meet Kirsten - Townsville Branch Secretary

Meet Kirsten McAllister, our Branch Secretary based in The Townsville Hospital. Pictured here with State Secretary Cath Seaver when they met with members in The Therapy Café last month.

A dedicated Registered Nurse who has worked in many areas, more recently as a Nurse Navigator, which she passionately believes is a valuable role in providing the best of patient care. Interestingly, Kirsten’s mother was one of the founding members of the QNU.

Professional Indemnity Insurance

 

We have just renegotiated our Professional Indemnity Insurance policy for you. The good news is that the cover remains the same and there continues to be no excess.

We tried again for the addition of employee midwives being covered during the birthing procedure. The underwriter did offer terms this year, however at a cost!

Nurses at two Brisbane private hospitals take action over unfair treatment

NURSES at the Wesley and St Andrew’s private hospitals will start industrial action this week over what they claim is unfair treatment.

Nurses Professional Association of Queensland members have provided notice to the employer, UnitingCare Health, that they intend to start industrial action because they are fed-up with siding with the Queensland Nurses and Midwifery Union.

Nurses fear safety after illegal drugs smuggled into Townsville Hospital

Grad Programs For Our Future

Message from NPAQ's President, Phill Tsingos

This time of the year many third year Registered Nursing students are preparing for life after University. At the same time many hospitals start recruiting new Nurses to their graduate programs. After years of hard work, dedication and training the hope of a prize opportunity awaits and only a few are chosen.

I am privileged to preceptor student nurses in their journey to reaching their goal of becoming a Registered Nurse.  In doing so, my aim is to provide students with a solid foundation in the core values of being a Nurse. This gives me the focus and attention required to provide students with the best learning environment for them to grow and develop their own nursing practice.
