Great news for our members at The Wesley Hospital.
Declan Curtin has been appointed in the voluntary role of Branch Secretary.
He is passionate about patient safety and quality care. Therefore this role is a great add-on to his existing educator roles enabling him to provide more resources, training and support to do just that.
With 30 years nursing experience, largely in emergency he worked in many London and South East England locations before working his way through Saudi Arabia and South Africa to eventually settle in Brisbane 16 years ago. His other specialties are dialysis and high dependency oncology.
Declan is currently the perioperative facilitator and has also held the student facilitator position for the past 5 years. He believes he can really make a difference preparing undergrads and graduates for the real world.
Nursing is more than a job, it is a way of life. Declan’s wife is a midwife and they have 4 children. If that doesn’t keep him running enough he is also the Run Director of local parkrun and is training to complete both the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast marathons next year.
